The small number of students per year (around 30) has given the possibility to most of the tutors to follow their acculturation during the 5 year program. In other words, most of the supervised diploma work students had taken two to three courses taught by the tutor that they choose as main supervisor. Having said that, the diploma projects contribute a great deal into the Tutor’s research work when is focused on design. Being not an exception, the diploma work has been a laboratory of ideas regarding architecture-as-urbanism and architecture as spatial agency, offering multiple ways to reconnect architecture with urban design. Some of the work produced is about support structures for citizens to reclaim public space, (Mina), hosting facilities for immigrants (Angelidou), managing coexistences of tourists and locals, (Soulounia), offering tools for negotiation to project actors that get an additional ludic character, (Palate). Other diploma projects proposed active urban roles to infrastructures such as translocal road networks, (Pasadakis), water networks and flooding, (Pantelidi), green armatures such as rivers, (Constantinou). Other projects took a high risk by repositioning architecture vis-à-vis contested spaces, such asFamagusta, (Kallis), or disasters that cancel out energy networks, such as electricity, (Anastasiou).
